Save Money on Your Electric Bill
Income-Qualified Assistance Programs
Many families continue to feel the pressure of rising everyday costs. Southern California Edison (SCE) understands this reality and offers income-qualified assistance programs to help households reduce their monthly electric bills and keep costs manageable.
Available Programs
California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE)
Eligible households receive 32.5% off their monthly electric bill.
Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA)
Eligible households receive an 18% discount on their monthly electric bill.
Once enrolled, these discounts are applied automatically each month—no need to reapply every billing cycle.
Reduced Base Service Charges
Customers enrolled in CARE or FERA also receive a lower Base Services Charge, helping keep fixed costs affordable:
  • CARE customers: approximately $6 per month
  • FERA customers: approximately $12 per month
(Actual charges may vary slightly depending on the number of days in your billing cycle.)
Why You Should Apply
These programs are already built into the utility system. If you qualify but aren’t enrolled, you’re paying more than you need to. For many households, enrollment can result in hundreds of dollars in annual savings—money that stays in your pocket.
Applying is straightforward, confidential, and worth the few minutes it takes to see if you qualify.
