Upland Police Department: August Public Safety Update
The Upland Police Department’s August 2026 Monthly Report shows several encouraging public safety trends, along with areas that will continue to require close attention.
Compared with August 2025, Group A offenses declined 16%, including a 22% decrease in crimes against persons and a 13% decrease in property crimes. Calls for service increased approximately 2%, but the average response time for Priority 1 calls improved from 5 minutes, 55 seconds to 5 minutes, 40 seconds.

Not every category improved. Burglaries increased from 11 to 14, sexual offenses increased from 3 to 7, and one homicide was reported during August. These numbers reinforce the importance of continuing to monitor emerging trends and directing resources where they are most needed.
Upland’s drone program also continues to provide additional support to officers. During August, drones completed 137 flights covering more than 350 miles, assisted with approximately 29 calls for service, and contributed to approximately six arrests.
Beyond enforcement, Upland Police personnel remained active throughout the community at National Night Out, the Back-to-School Bash, the Safety and Fun Expo for the Autism and IDD community, community blood drives, “Meet the Cops” events, and other outreach activities.
