Weekly Police Department Update
Summary of notable Police Department actions for the week.


Police Department:
On February 27, officers responded to a Child Protective Services report. During the investigation, it was learned that the stepfather had committed lewd acts on his stepdaughter. The case was assigned to the detective bureau and on 03/04/25 detectives arrested the suspect for PC 288(a) (lewd acts on minors under the age of 14). The suspect was booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
In February, the Detective Bureau was assigned multiple cases involving thefts from the locker room at 24 Hour Fitness gym leading to the loss of thousands of dollars. A suspect was quickly identified and linked to five other thefts from the same 24-Hour Fitness dating back to 2023. On March 5th, a search warrant was served at the suspect’s residence, and the numerous victim’s stolen property was recovered. The suspect was arrested for Burglary and Identity Theft and booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
On March 1, officers responded to a disturbance in the parking lot of Bullwinkle's in the 1500 blk of W. 7th St. Two groups of people were arguing over a parking space and during the argument a woman threatened to get brass knuckles from her car and assault the other party. Officers arrived and stopped the woman, who became uncooperative and resisted officers as they removed her from her vehicle. Officers found brass knuckles in the woman's purse and arrested her for possession of brass knuckles and resisting/delaying officers.
On March 1, officers responded to the 900 block of N. 5th Avenue in regard to a found five-year-old juvenile. The juvenile was found walking by himself in the street and crying. After an extensive area check, officers were unable to locate the juvenile's guardian or his residence. Through investigation, officers learned the juvenile lived nearby and went to the residence, where they did not find anyone home. After several hours, the juvenile's mother was finally reached, and she responded. Officers learned the mother had left the juvenile home alone all day while she went out with friends. The mother was arrested for felony child endangerment and Child Protective Services responded and took the child into their care.
On March 2, officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in a residential neighborhood. The caller stated a vehicle had been stopped at a stop sign for about twenty minutes. When officers arrived on scene they located the vehicle. The vehicle had collided with a community sign at the entrance of a neighborhood. The driver was arrested for DUI.
On March 4, the Special Investigations Unit conducted a search warrant at a residence in 700 Blk. of Spruce Ave. in Upland. SIU officers located a juvenile suspect wanted for stealing a $5,000 necklace from a victim during an OfferUp transaction. The juvenile was arrested for grand theft and weapons violations.
On March 4, we were dispatched to the area of 13th Street and Albright Avenue reference a male walking in the middle of the street and yelling at vehicles while pointing his phone at them. Officers located the male about a block north of 13th Street where he was arrested for drug-related offenses.
On March 4, officers also conducted 3 separate death investigations throughout the city, which were all deemed to be unsuspicious.
On March 4, officers responded to Vons in the 100 block of W. Foothill Blvd where two males stole over $1,000 worth of medication. The males quickly fled in a vehicle but was stopped by multiple officers. Both males were arrested, and the medications were returned to Vons. Hours later, a female stole various merchandise from Vons, but she was apprehended a few hundred yards from the store. The female had multiple prior convictions for theft, so she was booked on a felony shoplifting charge.
On March 4, a male attempted to break into a residence located in the 200 block of S. 1st Avenue. Officers arrived on scene, but the suspect had already fled by that time. There was no damage or loss as a result of the attempt burglary.
On March 4, Dispatch received a 911 call for a male yelling for help from the Eastbound 210 Freeway, east of Baseline Road. With the use of a drone, officers located a highly intoxicated male resting against a retaining wall on the freeway who was confrontational with officers. We learned there was some type of domestic altercation between the male and his wife, which resulted in the male being abandoned on the side of the freeway. CHP officers arrived shortly thereafter to take over the investigation and arrest of the male.
On March 5, officers were dispatched to In-N-Out in the 1800 block of W. Foothill Blvd reference 2 subjects passed out in a vehicle. Officers conducted their investigation and found controlled substances in the vehicle. Due to “no contact" domestic violence restraining order between the parties, the second subject was also arrested.
On March 5, an officer stopped a vehicle in the area of Mountain Avenue and Foothill Blvd where two occupants were arrested for controlled substance related offenses. The officer also learned that the two subjects stole numerous cosmetic products from the Walgreens across the street.
