  • POLICE DEPARTMENT WEEK OF MARCH 13

    • Code Enforcement has been conducting extra patrol near schools for illegal sidewalk vendors and has been following up with businesses that are unlawfully erecting banners without permits.

    • This week, Impact contacted a subject in the 1000 block of W. Foothill Blvd. The subject was arrested for trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misappropriation of lost property. Impact responded to a call of a male trespassing in the area of Foothill Blvd and Benson Avenue. The male was arrested for being a felon in possession of pepper spray.

    • On March 7, a victim called UPD to report that several of her bicycles had been stolen from her backyard in the area of College Park. The victim located one of her stolen bicycles strapped to the roof of an RV that was parked near the bike path and Central Ave. Officers contacted the occupants of the RV and recovered the stolen bicycle. The occupants were arrested for being in possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and warrants, and the bicycle was returned to the owner.

    • On March 7, officers were dispatched to the area of Mountain Avenue and 16th Street in regards to a vehicle that had driven up onto the sidewalk and got stuck. Officers contacted the female driver and conducted a DUI investigation. After an investigation, the female driver was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for driving under the influence of alcohol.

    • On Friday, March 7, we assisted Fontana Police with a traffic enforcement collaboration in their city. Officers wrote 59 cities and towed three vehicles. This operation was conducted on an overtime basis and grant-funded.

    • On March 8, we assisted the Upland Recreation team with traffic control for the Lemon Zest 5k.

    • On March 9, the Traffic Unit conducted a traffic operation in the city, 56 cities were written for moving violations. This operation was done on an overtime basis and grant-funded.

    • On March 10, officers located two subjects smoking illegal narcotics in the area of 7th Street and Mountain Avenue, both subjects were taken into custody and booked at the county jail.

    • On March 10, an observant officer noticed a suspicious subject in a vehicle parked at the Upland Police Department. He contacted the driver, who was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The passenger (who was at the station to get her vehicle back after a recent arrest) was arrested once again for being in possession of drug paraphernalia.

    • On March 10, officers responded to the 13400 block of N. Monte Vista Avenue for a suicidal female. The female drank a heavy amount of alcohol and said she wanted to commit suicide. The female was taken for psychiatric evaluation.

    • On March 11, officers were dispatched to a residential burglary in progress in the 400 block of W. Browning Street. The suspects fled in a vehicle before officers arrived. However, officers conducted a thorough investigation and were able to identify the suspect vehicle and 2 possible suspects before their end of shift. As a result of their investigation, the valuable information was relayed to the Special Investigations Unit for further handling.

    • On March 11, officers were dispatched to a residence located in the 500 block of N. Palm Avenue reference a male who cut his throat in order to kill himself. Officers quickly arrived on scene and saw that he had multiple lacerations to his throat. After ensuring the male was not armed, officers facilitated medical aid to him, and he was transported to SARH where he was placed on a 72-hour hold.

    • On March 11, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department received information of a possible active shooter at the Loma Linda Medical Center. UPD immediately dispatched 7 officers to assist. The medical buildings in question were cleared floor by floor and no victims or evidence of a shooting were located.

    • On March 12, officers were dispatched to Vons reference a theft that had just occurred. Officers located the suspect vehicle as it attempted to get onto the eastbound 210 Freeway at Euclid Avenue. All three occupants were arrested for shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia, and outstanding warrants.

    • On March 12, officers responded to the 1800 block of N. Eastgate Avenue for a suspicious subject who was ringing the reporting party's doorbell. Officers located the male down the street who was under the influence of drugs and arrested.

    • On March 12, Team 1 Day officers located a vehicle that was associated with a burglary. The vehicle was stopped and through investigation it was learned the suspects were no longer wanted. The suspects were interviewed and released at the scene.

    • On March 12 officers were dispatched to a fast-food restaurant in the 600 block of W. Foothill Boulevard for a trespassing issue. Employees called and said a subject, possibly a transient, was refusing to leave. Officers contacted the male, who refused to leave, then resisted officers. The subject was arrested for being in possession of meth pipes, resisting, giving a false name, and possession of a fixed blade weapon.
