Weekly Public Works Update
Summary of Public Works Department actions for the week.


Public Works Department:
PW Engineering – Capital
11th Street Flashing Signal Beacon & Alley Improvements: The electrical meter pedestal (Myers cabinet) is a long lead item that is estimated to take 24 weeks for shipment (June 2025 expected delivery). Project will not begin construction until late Spring 2025.
14th Street Rehab: (Campus to Grove) A design kick-off meeting with the consultant was held on 2/25/25. Survey and Geotechnical will begin and take approximately 4 weeks. Upon completion, base mapping will begin.
Alpine / Vernon / Palm Rehab: Contractor and City are waiting on SCE to install the power conductor cable from the SCE transformer to the new electric meter pedestal so that the new streetlights can be energized. Punchlist walk performed with the contractor. Contractor is addressing outstanding items.
ARPA Alley Rehabilitation Phase 2: Alley paving was completed on 3/3/25. Contractor is working on inspection punch list items.
Foothill Blvd. Rehabilitation: (Benson Ave. to Redding Way) Staff is completing the PS&E package for public bidding. Project is tentatively scheduled to advertise on 3/14/25 and 3/21/25. RFI deadline tentatively scheduled for 4/08/25 @ 3:00 PM. Bid Opening tentatively scheduled for 4/22/25 @ 3:00 PM. Pending a successful bidding process, engineering staff will move the contract to the City Council for consideration of an award of bid.
Grove Ave. Rehab (Foothill Blvd. to 15th St.) A design kick-off meeting with the consultant on 2/25/25. Survey and Geotechnical will begin and take approximately 4 weeks. Upon completion, base mapping will begin.
Lexington / 1st Ave. / 2nd Ave Rehab: Construction is scheduled to begin on 3/17/25. Electronic message boards have been deployed to the neighborhood and construction notification letters are scheduled to be delivered on 3/07/25.
Metrolink Station Accessibility Improvements – Phase II: The contractor is working on inspection punch list items. Staff and Contractor are making timing adjustments to the traffic signal at Campus Ave & Washington (Bike Trail).
Parking Lot Rehab on the south side of “A” Street, 450 feet east of 3rd Ave. (adjacent to Eden Garden Fusion Grill restaurant) Contractor began the submittal process to the City for all materials to be used on the project. The parking lot light needed for the improvements is a 24-week lead time. Engineering staff is looking at alternatives for this light.
Slurry Seal Project: Project is complete. Staff is prepared the contract completion documents. Project is scheduled for City Council acceptance consideration on 3/10/25.
PW Operations
o Stop sign replaced at Crebs Way at Leggio Lane. Removed split tree on 21st Street and O’Malley Way.
o Streets staff compacted road base along the washed-out gutter, then laid 2 tons of hot asphalt mix at 830 N. Euclid Ave.
PW Utilities
o The Sewer Division has successfully completed construction of the new spoils dumping area. This will be used for disposing of hydro excavation spoils from the Utilities Divisions. Wastewater spoils will continue to be transported and disposed of offsite at the Inland Empire Utilities Agency in Chino. A big thank you to the entire Sewer Division team for their hard work and dedication on this project.
o 🚮 207 residents utilized the household hazardous waste facility to dispose of their toxic waste properly.
o Average daily water produced for the week: 10.37 million gallons per day
o San Antonio Water Treatment Plant : Offline (Seasonal Water Source)
o Import surface water purchased from WFA : 1.0 million gallons per day
o Ground water sources: 9.37 million gallons per day
o Nicole de Moet, Michelle Madriz, and Tanya Garcia participated in “Read Across America” by reading to 5th graders & Pre-K students at Sycamore Elementary. The books included topics on helping the environment.
